The way to tell if this little tab is starting to wear is to rack the slide use your finger to push up on the carrier while you watch the bolt. Eventually, the action starts to blow itself open when you fire it. When this area wears then the bolt is not held all the way up in place where it belongs. On the end of the action bar is a small little oval tab machined on that holds the bolt up into the locking recess. What happens to these guns is that they get shot a lot with no lube. The weak link in the Model 12 is the action bar. +2 for an 870.especially for what you want to do. My old Westernfield - Mossberg 500 can still hunt but is set up for holding down the fort. and convert it yourself they way you want it. You can by a used slug barrel, extended mag, rail, grips etc. Parts and conversion accessories are readily available for the 500's and the price of a used 500 is pretty reasonable. If it is beat up its probably has issues that would make it unreliable as a defense weapon. IMO, unless the 12 or 37 you are looking at is beat to heck, it would be a shame to butcher it up. Also see if there is any lateral play where the barrel / mag joins the receiver. If it is peened back the gun will most likely jamb after being shot. On the older model 12s you could hold the trigger back while racking rounds through the action, firing each time the bolt closed without resetting and pulling the trigger. There is a milled recess inside the receiver, rack the action open and look with a light, if the back of the lock up recess is peened back (not a square sharp edge) find another shotgun. On a model 12 you want to look at where the top back of bolt locks up into receiver. Whats the best choice for a used shotgun, or any modern shotgun today? Modern production shotguns are in this price range, and while they dont have that "feel" the aftermarket is strong for the mossberg 500 and 870 ![]() I hate to ask, but if I had a gunsmith chop it to riot shotgun length, which version is less "rare" so I don't butcher a piece of history? Is this normal? Anything to look for in a used model 12? I have a few Win Model 12's to choose from at my cabelas, and I love the look and feel, but the forward shuck feels springy like I need to pull forward a bit extra to lock the bolt. I want something high quality, reliable, in the 400 price range and I definitely love history, but lack of aftermarket support is weighing heavy too. I feel like a complete noob, and its 10x more confusing than it ever was picking a first pistol, since there are so many different variants. I'm a complete city boy so I've literally never held or fired a shotgun in 10+ years of shooting AR's, bolt guns, and pistols. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I wanted a knowledgable opinion from shotgun guys. In these cases, an ultrasound exam is often required to determine gestational age. Difficulties in Determining the Gestational Age Last Menstrual Periodįor women who have irregular menstrual periods or women who cannot remember the first day of their last menstrual period, it can be difficult to determine gestational age using this method. This is just an estimate since only about 5% of babies are born on their estimated due date. Calculating Estimated Due Dateīased on the last menstrual period, the estimated due date is 40 weeks from the first day of the period. Women who undergo special procedures, such as artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization, typically know the exact date of conception. Thus, their conception date is merely an estimate based on the first day of their last period. Most women do not know the exact date of conception because it can be challenging to know exactly when ovulation occurs. Calculating Conception Date In a Typical Pregnancyįor a woman with a regular period, conception typically occurs about 11-21 days after the first day of the last period. The most accurate way to determine gestational age is using the first day of the woman’s last menstrual period and confirming this gestational age with the measurement from an ultrasound exam. The best time to estimate gestational age using ultrasound is between the 8th and 18th weeks of pregnancy. It becomes less accurate later in pregnancy. Measuring the baby using ultrasound is most accurate in early pregnancy. The baby can be measured as early as 5 or 6 weeks after the mother’s last menstrual period. A pregnancy wheel is often used to calculate gestational age. Gestational age is calculated from the first day of the mother’s last menstrual period and not from the date of conception. If the mother has a regular period and knows the first day of her last menstrual period, gestational age can be calculated from this date. The Milwaukee claims 1.2 SCFM at 90 PSI and the DeWALT Cordless Compressor (DCC2520) claims 1.0 SCFM at the same 90 PSI. Even with its smaller size it still has a larger tank capacity 2.5-gallon vs. lighter than my Milwaukee (2840-20) and has a slightly smaller footprint. The screwed-on rubber feet prevent the compressor from walking, or moving when filling it up. If you pull this over or material falls on it the controls, on/off switch, and battery should not make contact or be damaged. I thought the molded frame “roll cage” was well designed. The DeWALT Cordless Compress has a standard ball type drain valve with a plastic lever. I much prefer the simpler, quick-connect style. So you’ll need one hand to push the sleeve back and the other to insert the hose. The sleeve does not stay retracted when there is no hose attached. There is one hose coupler and it requires two hands to attach the hose. It is high and wide making it easy to grab and carry the compressor to where you need it. The raised, top handle is part of the molded frame. ![]() The on/off switch is sealed and protected, but still easy to access. And the large, single-turn pressure dial makes it easy to adjust pressure. The pressure gauge is easy to read on the front. I like that the controls are simple to read and use. But for peak performance, you’ll want to use a DeWALT 20V/60V FlexVolt battery. It can run off of their standard 20V Li-Ion battery. As I mentioned above, this DeWALT Cordless Compressor ( DCC2520) has more flexibility. The DeWALT 60V FlexVolt 2.5 gallon air compressor ( DCC2560) is similar to this model but will only run with their 60V FlexVolt battery. And while it is not the quietest compressor I’ve ever used, it is rated at 79 dBA, which isn’t bad. 4 hp motor with its oil-free pump can deliver up to 140 psi with a 20V/60V FlexVolt battery. This cordless compressor could be a productivity booster or at least a very convenient option for trim installers and finish carpenters. You’ll have enough cordless power to adequately run most of your pneumatic tools. This new, compact 2.5-gallon compressor can be used with any DeWALT 20V battery, but when powered by a DeWALT 20V/60V FlexVolt Advantage battery you’ll get maximum performance (81% more nails per cycle according to DeWALT). DeWALT Cordless Compressor OverviewĭeWALT’s previous cordless air compressors were part of their 20V tool line-up. Let’s see if this DeWALT compressor will make me want to switch over. This film is one of the most progressive feminist films because it combines standard film techniques and style with a feminist theme. After the screening, Bergstein admitted to being “disappointed” that she had not seen the film in years. The relationship between Baby and Johnny changes from one that was initially friendly to one that was hostile. The film depicts a 1960s Jewish family that is both open-minded and discreet, capturing their open-mindedness while maintaining a low profile. The 1987 film has a strong pro-life message, thanks in part to an illegal abortion (which resulted in botched, back-alley consequences). There is no mention of Jewishness in the book, according to her. Through its characters and story, the movie speaks to the universal human experience of coming of age, but also explores the unique challenges of growing up Jewish in the 1960s.Īccording to co-producer Eleanor Bergstein, Dirty Dancing is heavily influenced by Jewish culture. Though the movie is not explicitly about Jewish culture, Dirty Dancing has come to be seen as a Jewish movie because of its themes of family, acceptance, and the struggle to find your place in the world. The movie follows the story of a young Jewish American woman, Frances “Baby” Houseman, who falls in love with a dance instructor at a posh resort. In the iconic 1987 movie Dirty Dancing, viewers are transported to a world of romance and dance set in the summer of 1963. Back for the first time since the pandemic, the 2022 Dirty Dancing Festival will be held on Saturday, September 10. From lawn games and watermelon contests, to live music, dance classes and even a lake lift competition - it’s a celebration of the iconic, timeless film and a way to support an even greater cause. Either way, their tour guides are experts in Lake Lure’s legends and movie site lore it’s a relaxing way to see the sights that shouldn’t be missed!īegun in 2010 after Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, this annual festival is not only an incredibly fun weekend, it’s also a nonprofit fundraiser for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan). Lake Lure Tours offers daily guided boat tours at the top of each hour beginning at 11am, or if you prefer, you can book a private guided tour. Grab a bite at the Veranda Restaurant where the cast ate, wander through the lobby and hallways where they wandered, you can even book one of the suites where Jennifer Grey or Patrick Swayze stayed, or a Dirty Dancing themed bungalow! Speaking of treading where Baby & Johnny trod… it may not be a film location, but the 1927 Lake Lure Inn & Spa is where the cast stayed while they were filming on location in Lake Lure. That means guests at the Esmeralda can still mambo, merengue, salsa (or just walk!) on the same floorboards that Baby & Johnny danced on - don’t worry, you can even put your heel down as you dance through. The camp gymnasium that was used for the scenes at the Sheldrake and the (now famous) final dance scene at Kellerman’s burned down in a fire in the late 1980s, but the wood floor was able to be salvaged and now graces the lobby at Chimney Rock’s historic hotel and restaurant The Esmeralda. With breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and foothills, it’s not hard to see why this picturesque par 3 was considered a perfect location shot. No coming of age tale is complete without a few poignant parent and child scenes, and in the case of Dirty Dancing, one of the most memorable takes place on the 16th hold of Bald Mountain Golf Course at Rumbling Bald Resort. Located on private property in what is now called Firefly Cove, the white railing may be gone, but you can still easily see where Baby practiced her steps all the way back to Kellerman’s. The boy scout camp buildings where the staff quarters scenes were filmed were (sadly) demolished in the 1980s, but the stone stairway where Baby practiced the mambo (and carried up the watermelon) still exists. While some scenes at the movie’s fictional Kellerman’s Resort were filmed on location in Virginia most of the movie’s outdoor scenes including those taking place at the “staff quarters”, and many of the indoor dance scenes including the famed last dance of the season were shot at various locations throughout Lake Lure, NC. It’s no wonder that generations of Johnny and Baby fans annually flock to the film’s on site locations to pay homage to their love story. Set in the early 1960s, this classic coming-of-age tale is simultaneously spellbinding, heart-wrenching, and awkwardly comical. ![]() For many fans, Dirty Dancing is the kind of iconic movie that will always remain timeless. ![]() And hopefully I won't get re-addicted in the middle of school season.
